What's really astonishing is you have almost half of the country who are on-board with the above being mesmerized by trump and voting for him.

Trump will not make it to Election Day 2024 with what’s left of what his cult believes to be his sanity. This authoritarian talk is gross. He has a fetish for “strong men”, which explains why he talks more about love letters from Un than he’s ever spoken about a woman.

Pretending this is normal or even just “part of the act” is getting old. Every journalist should shove a microphone in the face of every GOP member of congress over and over and ask them what they think of Trump’s constant praise and admiration of killers and dictators. People should really be more forceful in calling out this crap. I’m not a big fan of the news driving the stories instead of the other way around, but this is sick behavior from Trump that needs to be reported on nonstop, it’s not normal and also ridiculous to such an extent that it’s only not funny because it’s dangerous. I fear more for the stupid Trump supporters who will probably harm each other more than an American “civil war”. True. But they are covering it in that same “this is alarming” tone they always use. So if they’re going to cover it, I really wish they’d do so in a more mocking and “this guy is batshit insane and a dictator-lover” tone.

The news is not just going to stop covering Trump, and the danger his brand of politics presents needs to be made clear. But I’m also tired of the constant doom and gloom and being forced to consider Trump the politician as if he’s a normal human and not a deranged idiot.

I admit to being borderline insane when I try to make sense of how someone so blatantly dumb is treated so seriously by millions of Americans, but the news is a big factor in that equation.
