USA Election 2024

Not only do Republicans want to control their bodies, they want to control their votes, too.

"Why shouldn't there be billionaires, you ask?"

Economists tell us extremely concentrated wealth is a very inefficient use of capital.

I understand if you took the wealth of Musk or Bezos and just distributed to all Americans equally it wouldn’t amount to much individually, but more importantly they would no longer have the money to buy our politicians and legislation that favors them over everybody else.

We’re not living through a failure of democracy. We’re living through a failure of capitalism.

I think women that are married to knuckle-draggers that would vote for Trump should lend Darwin a hand a take a page from Lorena Bobbitt's playbook. :D

I mean...they're trying to control your body, so turnabout is only fair play, right? :D

Edit: But vote first :D

I can't speak for Republicans and their households, but if I tried to tell my wife how to vote I'd be getting my ass kicked.

A survey determined a lot of young people are lying to their friends and family about who they are voting for but it didn’t determine if that favored either candidate.

All I know is if you are a young straight male angry about not getting laid hitching your wagon to MAGA puts you at about 50 steps in the wrong direction to achieving that goal. Maybe a new orientation will come out of it, the MAGAsexual, angry men hooking up with angry men, but it’s not gay! It’s definitely not gay! It’s more like the evolution of the prisonsexual. Also definitely not gay!

"We're not into any of that homo bullshit. We fucked, yeah, but we fucked like MEN! There was a big truck involved. People got hurt. TRUMP 2024!"

Biden is a very vain man. He resents Harris trying to distance himself from his accomplishments.

This is not the first time he has publicly said something that contradicts something she said. He holds press conferences during her rallies among other things.

As for his legacy, is not being the only person to beat Trump not part of his legacy. He has publicly stated he thinks he is the only person who can beat her.

So it’s not as crazy as you might want to think.
I wish you’d send more time addressing the real threat to our democracy instead railing over this petty Biden BS. He’s no longer a candidate but he still gives you bad vibes? You obsess much? My god, if you need to obsess, look at the Orange Elephant in the room. But if you’re obsessing he might lose, find a better forum for sympathy. 😐

That's the thing about Herdfan. He's treating Trump as if he's any normal candidate, and the things he says are mere gaffes, akin to Mitt Romney's binders full of women. Embarrassing, sure, but is it really all that bad?

"Trump said he was gonna build death camps that'd make Dachau look like Disney World, but Biden said some pretty rude things too, and people notice that."

I just don’t see a voter leaning towards Harris flipping to the leader of garbage people because of Biden’s comment. Most people can admit they see garbage people on all sides including their own. On the right it’s classic conservatives vs MAGA. On the left it’s corporatists vs progressives.

Funny enough quite a while back I thought there should be a dating site called Garbage People where dysfunctional people can hook up with other dysfunctional people with similar interests. Plus it would preemptively deflate any prejudgments friends and family might have. Of course they aren’t going to like them. You met on Garbage People.

This whole thing were Trump is so openly attacking women won't help his cause, I guess it can be argued he's lost such a large swath of them anyway but there's nothing to be gained here for him this close to the election.

High might have decided everybody’s mind has already been made up and if he wins he can say the majority is onboard with whatever garbage was said at the MSG rally right up to election day.

Well, I am sure Republican women are good at faking things, so they should have no issue lying about who they voted for.

There is only one answer to that.

I mean, do we have to dodge this topic? I think it's reasonable to be open about what a healthy relationship looks like, and how two people can engage with each other over politics. I honestly really hate this idea that the answer is just to "back away slowly", even as a joke.

At least in my case, I know my partner well enough that I feel comfortable pointing out what I think are hot button things to pay attention to ("Hey, I think this initiative is climate denialist nonsense"), but after that, it's in her court. We've had discussions on specific local races, but that doesn't need to include me trying to convince her how to vote. Now, this would be a lot harder if there were more fundamental differences in our views, and we're lucky that we are aligned on so many things, which does make it easier to have civil discussions of politics. So I get that not everyone can "just do it". But we should be able to at least set something to aspire to.

The fact that people see their partner voting differently than them as a deep wound or betrayal is itself a sign of the divisions facing us. That said, I'd be much more willing to feel out compatibility in terms of our philosophy than I was years ago, so I'd be less likely to put up with someone who wouldn't support my trans niblings in the first place.

The more I read on this site, the more it feels like Herdfan is approaching political discussion like someone approaches discussing the Super Bowl.

My response was only to "telling women how to vote" which is very much what the Republican party is throwing out there right now, having healthy political discourse in the home is healthy, I agree with that. There are a couple of measures where my wife and I have really different opinions on and have voted opposite each other I'm sure, but I would never presume to actually tell her how to vote.
