USA Election 2024

Seen this?
So are we talking social security, medicare, higher taxes - what?

"We have to reduce spending to live within our means..." says the guy who has never had to reduce his spending in his life.

Personally, I'd like to see the billionaires endure some hardship.

@Clix Pix and everyone who unsubscribed from the Washington Post : I’m rethinking if it’s a good idea and going back on my steps.
Yesterday I read a very wise point of view in a Dana Milbank article
https://wapo.st/3UuFTw6 free to read for everyone
Till there are good journalists like him and few others, who keep reason and honesty in what they write and can condemn what is wrong and nobody forbid or redact their words , we have precious allies in them.
I’ll cancel my subscription the moment one of them resigns for those reasons.
As of last night, the latest count of people who have unsubscribed: 250,000! Whew.....

I'm still hanging in there but I agree that if some of the journalists whose news and editorials I've been reading for years resign that will definitely make me rethink my subscription. Dana Milbank has always been someone I trust and respect.

When I saw the headline that members of the Editorial Board had resigned, at first I thought it was all of them, but at that point it was only two. It would have made a very strong point had the entire group resigned en masse. This whole thing is just so frustrating and upsetting beyond words....

The Trump campaign is really running with Biden’s gaffe. I’m not going to defend it, but as always, the selective outrage on the right is hilarious. I prefer to think of it as punching back. And I don’t really think he was wrong either. Should he have said it and am I glad he did? No. But again, why does Trump get a pass on posting stuff mentioning a “Unified Reich”, he called the whole country a garbage can, invited a guy who is apparently called a comedian to call Puerto Rico garbage… but this is just a chance for them to throw it back. Can’t blame them, but I reckon it will only sway… well, nobody really.

What person in their right mind says “That was a bridge too far, I’m voting Trump”? Anyone who thinks like that would already be voting Trump.

That said, I really wish he hadn’t made this gaffe right after Kamala’s speech.

Forgot to add, and this is no exaggeration, these assholes don't think in terms of years, decades, or even centuries. They think about what we need to do now to have their utopia exist a million years from now and if that means mass long term suffering in the near future then so be it.

Why shouldn't there be billionaires, you ask? Because it inspires this exact horse shit with the means to attempt it.

Yeah the context of Biden's off-the-cuff remark was also made in reference to that very same comedian prepared joke on the teleprompter calling Puerto Ricans garbage. The latter is significantly worse by every stretch of the imagination but I'm sure it gives the Trumpets something to feel victimized by.

Oh and btw, I'm not running for president and I'm not Kamala Harris (shocking I know), but people voting for a fascist, rapist, felon who tried to overthrow the US government in a coup? Yeah you're goddamn right I'm fucking judging them for it.

And that the media is making hay of this after everything Trump has said and done is asinine.

That wasn't a gaffe, it was a fact. His supporters are absolute pieces of shit, weren't these the same snowflakes who said Liberals couldn't take a joke just 2 days ago while laughing that PR was a floating piece of garbage? Oh yeah, total patriots.

Fuck every last one of them, they can suck it and props to Biden for saying what we're all thinking. If Democrats are going to go down they they ought to do it being 100% honest about these heartless assholes.

Are you sure it is a gaffe?

This is not the first time he has “counter programmed” her. I think he is 1) still pissed he was forced out and puts some blame on her, 2) still thinks he is the only person who could beat Trump, and 3) is actively working against her interests to prove it.

A gaffe, no? He meant it. I think the rest of your hypothesis ranks with some of the craziest conspiracy theories. Unlike Trump, Biden cares too much about the country to do what you suggest. He also realizes a Harris loss will reflect poorly on his own legacy.

Yeah, I’m sure he’s so angry he’s trying to screw his VP over. More projection onto Biden?

You somehow see all of this in Biden, and think Trump is merely “toxic”?

He’s going to lose by a good clip and go nuts, I can feel it. Trump has been undercounted twice in a row. He may not be this time. These things happen. Or maybe not, but a lot has happened in Trump world since 2020. No need to rehash it, but polls can be wrong. Even if the polls are correct and within the margin of error, that doesn’t mean that Harris can’t win a race that’s currently polling as tied by three or four points, or even more.

It’s all speculation, I will just be far more surprised if Trump wins, partially because I don’t want to curse my fellow Americans. Despite our electoral college, he was rejected in the last two elections by the people and I expect no different this time. Lost in the big turnout numbers of 2020 was that Biden actually gained a bigger percent of the vote than Hillary - and got more than 50% of the vote - 51.3 to be exact. He beat Trump by 4.5 points nationally.

He didn’t do well in 2020, it’s hard for me to believe Biden/Harris have been so bad people want a return to something they never accepted as a majority in the first place.

In most cases, much wealth distorts your reality, to everyone’s detriment, just the amount of wealth you horde is at an huge number of other’s expense.

Your upset? Sewing seeds of discontent?
Along the same lines as the “gaffe”, If a citizen supports a racist and his policies, does that make them a racist?
If they support a POS, where does that leave them?
This is not a personal attack just a philosophical position.

Biden is a very vain man. He resents Harris trying to distance himself from his accomplishments.

This is not the first time he has publicly said something that contradicts something she said. He holds press conferences during her rallies among other things.

As for his legacy, is not being the only person to beat Trump not part of his legacy. He has publicly stated he thinks he is the only person who can beat her.

So it’s not as crazy as you might want to think.

He’s ramping up the stolen election BS. Oh well, let’s get on with it. Pure projection.

Also, the orange vest is a bit redundant, is it not? You can barely see it what with Trump’s mop and glow head sticking out the window.

He also once broke his mom’s vase when he was 11. Can’t trust this guy, I’m voting Trump. He’ll stick his fingers up your mom without asking, call your father a blood poisoner and sue you for saying you don’t like him (if he can’t have you arrested or given the death penalty for treason first), can’t go ten seconds without lying about crowd sizes… but at least he’s not vain.
