USA Election 2024

Joe Rogan gained the national spotlight and probably grew his following due to vaccine and covid precaution skepticism and he kept at that for years. Amount of time spent discussing that in his interview with Trump: 0. Joe claimed he didn’t have time for that…in 3 hours. The only thing he gave a slight kickback about was the stolen election, but in the end he agreed the response and aftermath were essentially the same thing as when Hillary lost the election in 2016.

If Rogan interviewed Charles Manson he’d had spent the entire interview talking about Manson’s failed music career that was the result of music industry elites.

I think we're seeing a lot of good news trending but my concern is it's creating apathy just before election day. This is not in the bag, I'm hoping everyone gets out and votes.
I dunno, mostly good news, but there was an Atlantic report yesterday or two days ago saying Democratic turnout might be down in NC compared to 2020 so far (based on demographics of who has voted). Of course the hurricane screwed up both Democratic and Republican counties so it's hard to say how that has affected voting. Given how on edge everyone seems to be, I don't think anyone is taking anything for granted. I've not seen anyone say "no worries, we got this!".

The real apathy is with this guy, who is undisciplined and has a team probably more intently focused on their post-election coup attempt than winning votes.

Important to note that the Moldovans managed to overcome intense Russian interference and pass a pro-EU referendum and reelect pro-EU Maia Sandu, rejecting the pro-Russian alternatives. Of course, a lot in world affairs is riding on us similarly rejecting the pro-Russian Trumpists.

Fascinating article to me about mixed political marriages, as you might imagine, the husbands are the dickhead Trumpers. I couldn’t do it, but we’re in a fortunate position. The article gives me hope that women are going to give the GOP a beating they’ll richly deserve.

Imagine what 4 more years will do to this guy.
Unless he has a magic bath like Baron Harkonnen in Dune, I don't think Trump will survive four years, win or lose. He'll have a stroke, MI, or some other catastrophic event, and his cognitive decline will accelerate. That's part of the plan if Trump wins. He'll be declared incapacitated and the 25th Amendment will be invoked, making Vance President.

The Iowa bombshell reinforces my impression that in this cycle, pollsters, even the ones I trust and respect, such as Nate Silver etc., have no idea what is going on

While they can determine with decent accuracy how certain segments of the population are going to vote, figuring out who and what segments are going to vote is the hard part.

One candidate may have 100% support among brown-eyed redheads. But if only 2% of them vote, that is a useless piece of information.

This goes back to my previous post about “whisper campaigns”. Women’s groups formed to promote voting for who is best for them, their bodies and their daughter’s rights. They just don’t tell their MAGA SO and families. While my hope has been dwindling, this gives me some hope. I also believe the 1st time Swifty voters will be in our favor. Now to see if it will be enough especially with Trump & gang having for months been saying the Dems are cheating again & who knows what shenanigans the GOP already put in place for their own “steal”. 🙄

I don't think there are any misconceptions about this one, even with the poll most agree Trump will still win the state.

On the last day of campaigning, how is everyone feeling? I am nervous and optimistic at the same time.
Also hopeful but also grounded in the fact that it could go Trump's way.

Either way, life goes on and I'll try to be nice to @Herdfan when he gloats.

I’m nervous as sh*t. As are most, if not all, of my friends.
Also nervous as sh*t, even though not a US citizen nor voter. I’m nervous because of what this means for the globe, and fearful for all of you in the US - on all sides - should the worst rhetoric play out in civil conflict.

Yet I’m hopeful too…hopeful that basic human decency and caring will win out.

Famous last words from our party the day before the election in 2016. I'm not taking anything for granted until I actually see it.

I will be the optimistic guy who takes the fall if he’s wrong.

I’ll either be wrong or thanking whoever that shit comedian was in a couple days. I really want to be able to say a comedian killed Trump’s campaign at a klan rally.

Tell you what, if you're right I'll be happy to get an I told you so. (y)
