At least they’re admitting it. The real goal of this upcoming president is to get rid of dark-skinned people and line the coffers of his buddies. That’s it. There’s an element of blatant misogynists in the electorate, but I think not enough attention is given to the soft misogynists, especially the older generations. They don’t have a general distrust or hatred of women. They’re just engrained in patriarchy and believe a man needs to be at the top.
Toss in unlike every other country on the planet they believe it’s our job to police the world and that, again, is a man’s job. If a war broke out between Brazil and Columbia I highly doubt the people of France would see it as a concern but our media and politicians would tell us it’s a top problem for the US and we should vote accordingly. No other country’s voters feel the entire world was a more/less stable place based on whoever happened to be in charge of their country at the time.

Yes. It’s very similar to the people who aren’t inherently racist, but who don’t believe in systemic racism (though they seem to believe in systemic eroding of white America). They get on well with anyone of any race and would give their black or brown or immigrant neighbor the shirt off their back, but seem confused or hostile to movements like BLM.
I know many people like this in my personal life. They are not racists or bad people at all - quite the opposite - they just seem unable for whatever reason to empathize with groups of people. It’s “they commit crimes” and “handouts don’t help” (even when they themselves are handouts) and have a bootstrap mentality (even if they had nothing but help with their own bootstraps).
