What Movie Are You Watching?

Civil War was surprisingly good and not what I expected, or what most people would expect. For those uninterested for similar reasons I was, it doesn’t get into ideologies, pick sides, or get into details of the sides. It’s about journalists in a war zone who have to lean on their perceived neutrality to gain access and that doesn’t always keep them safe. We all know what differences of opinion might cause a civil war here, but most (not all) of the time you really don’t know who is on which side or based on what beliefs.

A conservative friend of mine got wind that CA joins forces with TX and that blew his mind, but in the movie that was just a passing comment. I had to repeatedly tell him that they don’t get into it beyond that comment. It’s like he really wanted the movie to be about what I was grateful it isn’t. :ROFLMAO:
I liked it too. I'd been avoiding it; seemed like it would be depressing. Although it's obviously dark, I had the same reaction as you, it simply portrays two sides fighting without getting bogged down in politics. Great direction and performances.

Excellent movie. And Vol. 2 was as well. 3? Not so much.
Simpatico!

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (2017)- Super!

I’d be curious to hear what bugged you, not to fight though. :)
Well, it was clearly a made for kids film, Kathy Najimy's mouth affectation, the kid's wooden acting, etc. I love Sarah Jessica Parker running amok, though.

Bladerunner 1982, The Final Cut Edition. What qualifies as human? Could a human fall in love with an AI that displayed empathy, affection, and dismay especially with a human form…in a heart beat.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off (the) shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
The world is built on a wall between kind. Tell either side there is no wall and then you have a war or a slaughter.

Wallace: “We lost our stomach for slaves unless engineered.”
The newborn scene is heartbreakingly brutal.

There’s a revolution coming, we’re building an army.
What will the third chaper bring? (2025) Another 50 years, in the timeline? Maybe I should not be holding my breath regarding a timely revolution, but who knows?

My wife put on the new Salem’s Lot film recently. I was curious because I read a lot of Stephen King when I was younger. Thumbs down. I was initially assuming it was the first episode of a limited series, and then I thought the plot was being really rushed, and then I realized I was watching a bad movie instead of a good TV show.

That’s disappointing.

Got to see the new Beetlejuice movie last night. So very much like the first one. It was so nice to see some of the original actors back.

I actually really liked it despite the bad reviews, I didn't think I would but ended up being pleasantly surprised. 🤷‍♂️

Red Sparrow (2018)- This is an excellent spy thriller, very different than Atomic Blond, lower energy, slower burn, more traditional, a lot of classical music instead of heart pounding 80s rock, but never the less tense and excellent. I read the trilogy which takes the reader to the top of the Russian government.

The School for Good and Evil (2022)- Mediocre Disney-like fairy tale story. Not sure what its point was.

Transformers (2007)- The first and arguably the best of the franchise. A well defined and executed story about a conflict involving opposing groups of alien AI come to Earth with a high humor quotient. Definitely a Michael Bay high energy production. The integration of CGI into live action is impressive almost 2 decades later.

Amazing Mechanics 🙂

Hopefully we’ll get another season.
What I watched was a movie, if that’s what you meant. 🙂 I had some issues with the premise, the balance of good and evil and we have 2 colleges that promote opposite philosophies because they are both needed. 🤔

Not even sure it falls into the arguably category. Other than the scene in 2 where Julie White eats the brownies, the rest aren't worth watching.

Sleepy Hollow (1999)- A perfect modern Halloween classic. The Iron Maiden scene happens during a flashback, gives me chills an event the character experienced as a child, perfectly horrible.

Science fiction of course. :) I enjoyed this in its entirety, especially the humor. I plan on watching Revenge of the Fallen tomorrow.

Maybe I’m confusing it with something else.
