What Movie Are You Watching?

So in that case, probably not. But in my world where it would cost half that, I would not be upset. ;)
I don't go too the theatre anymore. I wait for films to stream. Infinitely cheaper, way more comfortable, and usually quieter.

That being said, I can't wait to see this one.

This was our first in 2 1/2 years. Saw TG:Maverick and then Jurassic World:Dominion a month apart and then nothing till this.

The time between theatrical release and streaming release are so much shorter than they used to be.

Twisters (2024)- Not a bad sequel of sorts to the original Twister (1996). Outstanding twister effects while storm chasers, chase them, decent story. 😁

Defiance (2008)- WWII, ‘Jewish brothers in German-occupied Eastern Europe escape into a Belorussian forest, where they join Russian resistance fighters, and endeavor to build a village, in order to protect themselves and about one thousand Jewish non-combatants’. Excellent story.

Toy Story 2 (1999)- Toy Story put Pixar on the map. Toy Story 2 is just as wonderful with a touch of horror as Stinky Pete ends up wearing lip stick. ☺️

The Children’s Train (2024)- Netflix. Surprisingly powerful story of a boy in post WWll Italy whose mother living in poverty in Naples, volunteers to send him North (along with hundreds of other children), to families who want to provide them with a normal life, even if it is just for a while. For me, an emotional ending.

To Kill a Mockingbird (1962)- A movie masterpiece, Pulitzer Prize winning book. Filmed on the backlot in Hollywood. Children of a lawyer learn about racism in Alabama, 1932 during the depression. I’ve always loved movies portraying the US South and its human blemishes. A portrayal of historical white privilege. This story might make you feel sick.

Captain America- The First Avenger (2011)- When I first heard about this movie, I was not impressed with the idea. I thought it was an overly patriotic theme, and that the world had no interest in being entertained by such a super hero. Well, it turned out that I was wrong, Marvel pulled this off in 2011. Captain America is a favorite character. And on a side note although I remember a Captain America in my youth, I was ignorant of the publishing history of Captain America which started in 1940 during WWII.

Captain Marvel (2019)- Top 10 Marvel Story.
Carol Danvers memory is jogged to remember her past as a USAF pilot. The story does a good job of misdirection, even though most Marvel watchers should generally recognize the Kree as not the good guys.

Iron Man (2008)- The first major marvel movie that put Marvel and Robert Downey Jr on their incredible trajectory. I was sad that this was the only appearance of Terrance Howard as Rhodey.

Thor (2011)- Great performances, the first and most seriously, grounded Thor, establishes Loki as an authentically conflicted evil villain, even if it’s not entirely his fault. Natalie Portman’s on screen presence, her character’s romantic fascination with Thor is palpable. Idris Elba as Heimdal is amazing. The entire town where Thor confronts The Destroyer is a damned good set, wonderfullness all around.

Crazy Loki isn’t in that poster but, at the time, Tom Hiddleston was probably less famous than all of those actors.
