Donald Trump 2024 Presidential Campaign Announcement Nov. 15

CNN is having a field day with his speech.

The man is a prodigious liar or severely mentally ill, in either case, is disqualifying to be POTUS. So who were the people at his announcement? The usually band of dummies or freak show Fans? And how come the GOP does not denounce than man as a flaming liar? Oh yeah, might offend the base who also votes for you… 🤔

That was more than I could take, it was maybe 2 minutes for me. It reminded me just how much I hated hearing his voice all the time, so full of hate, vitriol and vengeance all the time. People can slam Biden all they want but the change of pace to a normal sane person who isn't tweeting insane shit 24/7 has been so refreshing. I don't care if we have another Republican president TBH, but that maniac should be muzzled and locked away somewhere.
Yeah, with a slightly clearer head this morning, I watched more excerpts, in retrospect, I guess I saw a lot less than I realized, more like 1-2 minutes like you, and they were about as much of a (ugh ...) "highlight" as they could extract because holy hell, most of the rest was terrible. I must've seen the 90 seconds of peak crank effect, because he ran out of energy pretty quickly and the rest was a real slog.
Seems you weren't alone. First thing I saw over my morning cup of Joe:

He'll just start using these with some pre-recorded audio:

He definitely doesn't have the same support he once did, eventually we'll be hearing "clap please".

That's kind of ironic given how many people show up for a Biden rally. ;)

But it's going to get ugly and ugly quickly:

IA
Desantis - 48
Trump - 37

NH
Desantis - 52
Trump - 37

FL
Desantis - 56
Trump - 30

GA
Desantis - 55
Trump - 35

But Biden has never had big rallies, he's always been a low energy but stable candidate. Trump is the one who has the claim to fame on huge turnouts and his balloon has been deflated. You'll need to find a better comparison on this one dude.

Trump’s a cult leader, Biden is a career politician. They’re playing different games.

Bernie outperformed Biden with campaign rallies. How did that work out for him? Mango outperformed Biden with campaign rallies. How did that work out for him?

Showing up at a rally doesn't win elections. Getting your ass out and voting does. Biden kicked ass in primary contests and the Presidential election. That's all that matters. Not polls, rallies or screwball rhetoric.

Yeah, none of our friends (or us) went to rallies, or drove around with huge Biden flags, or plastered our cars with stickers, wore Joe Biden shirts/hats/pants/capes, we support the candidate through the proper mechanism: voting (and maybe campaign contributions).

We engage in democracy. All that other bullshit is a cult.

And the simpletons look at that visible worship as some kind of metric for actual campaign performance. Like when there was that boat parade here in FL and like 1500 or so boats showed up, and the mouth-breathers were confused, "HERF DERF HOWD HE LOSE HE HAD A THOUSAND BOATS", and then you do some research and find out that 1M boats are registered in Florida, it's all bad perception because the cult members tend to just outloud every else in the room ...

Word in the gutter is that the Q folks are starting to be told that DeSantis is a deep state plant.

Hilarious.

But how many of them are left now, a few millions, couple hundred thousand or are they down to hundreds?

If more of them had voted, then possibly one or two more of the election deniers would be out shopping for what to wear to their swearing-in ceremonies in January.

Instead they are lined up outside the virtual Musk-Twitter gate that Elon installed in front of his latest oops-not-this way-i-guess money-making modules, waiting to buy a blue verification sticker that might be worth 8 cents.

The ones we need to be concerned about post Trump's announcement are the ones in the Senate who supported his attempt to steal the 2020 election and still ride the Trump-kissing bandwagon.

Or is that bandwagon that the likes of Hawley and Cruz are on actually just a virtual tumbril headed to justice at the hands of angry pro-Trumpers when those Senators finally see the light and try to put distance between themselves and not just Trump but their own pro-Trump constituents. Time will tell.

Wasn't there an article that revealed a whole lot of the Jan 6th insurrectionists who were charged with crimes hadn't even voted in the election?

2020 revealed that a sizable chunk of these MAGA Q people don't actually vote. What gets them out of bed are the boat parades, the researching conspiracies, the rallies, the marches on the Capitol with pepper spray strapped to their legs. But actually standing in line to check a box doesn't inspire the same excitement. I genuinely think that they perceive their actions as inspiring to others, and then that's it, they've done their job, look at all the buzz around me, everyone else has got this. That's why there was so much upset about a rigged election—how could we have lost? We each put like ten flags on our trucks!

He didn’t make much of a wave. What I thought was a good performance (by his standards), many feel was boring, even some on Fox News. Others thought it was brilliant - the usual boot lockers.

But he was disciplined and on message (America is doomed). Yet many found it boring. I guess that’s why Biden won, people were and are sick of the circus.

He’s first out of the gate. Will he make it out there for six months with no competition? A two year presidential campaign by an aging lunatic?
