That makes no sense. There were numerous shadows it was not confused by. If you go to :32 in the YT video, you see that there is a gray pickup on the left and a sign on the right that I think says "watch for trucks", so it must have been distracted by the pickup and wanted to turn around and follow it.

My favorite comment on the video said something like: “to be fair, it thought that tree was a child”

So here is the report. They claimed they also uploaded the CSV but I don't see it. What do you guys think?

Looks like it thought the shadow in the road was an object and tried to avoid it. Good thing Elon is too cheap to use LIDAR. Gotta keep those teslas crashing into trees.

Have literally had cult members argue with me that FSD will get better with the army of cars generating mass amounts of data and in the same breath argue that if they were to use lidar/radar and other sensors in addition to cameras the AI will "get confused" (from too much input) and that vision only is superior because that's how humans see things.

Seriously...

I do wonder how other cars real with things like puddles or debris in the road. For the longest time Tesla's just ignored their existence and plowed ahead. I've not seen how others deal with it.

That seems to be the biggest flaw in Tesla "FSD": I don't know what that is, so I will just drive right through it at full speed. Kind of the exact opposite of what a good driver would do.

It probably will be too annoying to use otherwise because there'll be too much phantom braking. Even now the phantom braking can be disruptive.

And flat out scary AF when you're driving at freeway speeds.

I have not had any of that happen on the v12/v13 stack. Only when using the v11 (basically not FSD) stack have I seen it act that way. I've also not had it swerve for shadows on the road during the day. Anecdote is not evidence....

I have, picture driving at 75 MPH and then slamming on your brakes for absolutely no reason.

Interesting, the NN stack seems to have more of an issue maintaining speed than flat out slamming on brakes. Were you using v11 stack? I only ask because there is a difference between FSD and Autopilot.

No idea about any of that, just a regular driver who let the car update itself as it saw fit but none of it seemed to matter as it randomly did it throughout the entire time I owned the car. My BMW does not have that issue.

Yeah v11 was terrible at that. The older versions like v8/9 was great at not phantom breaking but it strictly used the radar.

The stopping at red lights and stop signs of v11 city stuff was cool though.

Tanzanite blue! My wife’s i4 is red, as is my Tesla Model S, so I felt like going a different way this time (I am not a fan of grey-scale cars, though my old grey boxster was pretty nice). Plus my wife’s engagement ring is tanzanite instead of diamond (don’t hate me, ladies - she demanded tanzanite, so i gave her a diamond neckless too!), so it’s sort of an inside joke here.

as for wheels, I really never care about them, other than I didn’t want to go too huge just because of range and puncture issues.

The backstory seems to be that BMW is still hesitant to ship these into the U.S., but they’re shipping some and there was some level of negotiation between the dealer and BMW to get them to move on mine (I don’t discount the possibility that the dealer may be making this up).

Glad it's working out, looks like a great color and I couldn't be happier with mine.

Yeah the feds aren't playing around right now, DJI sent me a new drone replacement out of Canada 2 weeks ago and as soon as it ended up in Louisville, KY it was put on a customs hold where it sits to this day with no sign of being released and neither DJI nor UPS can do anything to change that. It's looking like there's a good chance my $4500 will be flushed. Welcome to Donald Trump's America.

See, you could have gone for a nice trip up to Vancouver, bought it there and probably been able to bring it home without too much fuss. It took something like 10 days for me to get my Grizzl-E charge device, but it did finally show up.

Of course, you might end up talking to Canadians, who are mostly pretty nice people, and never manage to return home. It would be a pretty serious risk.

There was recently a case where a film crew went from the US to Canada to shoot with DJI gear and they were refused re-entry unless they left the gear behind. They ended up leaving someone behind with the gear and I'm not sure if/when it got resolved.

The problem is someone has to pay for the tariff and until that's worked our there's a lot of back and forth which takes time, but I've heard of people no getting resolution and I'm worried that's where mine will end up.

Tanzanite is a great blue, in '24 the x50 blue option was sort of a pale blue, we considered it for a few, but it looked a little too "plasticky".

Oh yeah, those are the new Sport package wheel in 21" which is a terrific balance of looks, handling, range and comfort. I was originally obsessed with finding one with the 22" option, the tires are wider, looks sportier, but they lose a decent amount of sidewall, some range (then I discovered there was an alternate Sport wheel option, darker finish, and I was sold on the 21" setup).

So is that a MY25? Or an LCI/MY26 car?

I saw a recent post on Reddit, person just took delivery of an M70 in Frozen Gray, holy shit, if we wind up with another iX in '27, this might be the config :D
