Wife has her new i4. My iX is ordered but won’t be built until July (the trailer hitch adds a couple months).
Wow congratulations, I’m envious of that color. Glad it all worked out.![]()
Sirius XM was already installed and ready to go with the complimentary one year subscription on mine.I am finding the user interface a little inscrutable. How do you find your sirius/xm radio ID? Also, my wife is in the car right now and the backup chime won’t shut up - I think she’s trying to adjust it or something, but apparently it is difficult because the damned noise won’t stop!! argh!
some cars apparently let you select from a few choices. In any event, there appears to be a software update that reduces the volume some. She’s installing now. The volume as-delivered was ridiculous - could hear it outside two stories up.Hyundai/Genesis isn't any better on that front. The backup noise cannot be defeated as it's a feature to let others know about you. Configuring it would kinda defeat the point.
I'm pretty sure NHTSA only allows like a couple of preprogrammed sounds thanks to Tesla screwing it up for everyone. I don't think any manufacturer has bothered making more than 1 sound for reverse. I'm not 100% sure if the forward under 18MPH sound is the same. Though I will admit maybe my car is broken cause it doesn't make any noise when I move forward under 18 like it is supposed to (I'm not complaining). I think the speaker may be disconnected, don't care enough to check though.some cars apparently let you select from a few choices. heading to Steven’s Creek BMW in 15 minutes. I can take a hint.
Now that you mention it I installed that update a couple of days ago and do seem to notice the decrease in volume.some cars apparently let you select from a few choices. Off-topic: A Bavarian comedian (who previously worked for BMW, I believe), interprets BMW as bayerischer Mistwagen.
This will really test your German knowledge…

Can't go wrong with this i4 I can say that much, excellent car all around as I'm sure you guys will see after getting a chance to use it for a bit.Just saw neighbor scoping out my wife’s i4. He bought a tesla some few years back after taking a ride in mine. He just sent me this email:

welp, i still haven’t even been allowed to sit in the passenger seat in the i4Can't go wrong with this i4 I can say that much, excellent car all around as I'm sure you guys will see after getting a chance to use it for a bit.
She should get one free year of XM with the car, that seems to be the BMW standard and if it's not already setup I would ask them for help on that.welp, i still haven’t even been allowed to sit in the passenger seat in the i4
The good news is that my wife charged it without my help yesterday using our Tesla Gen 0 wall connector and a little adapter, and it worked fine. She charges is to 80% despite my suggestion that, it being a lease, she just go ahead and charge it to 100% to make it easier for us to share the charger.
Anyway, I may be allowed to sit in it at some point to program homelink, though she took my suggestion to use carplay to open the garage and she prefers that (because she can trigger it as she drives up the road and sees the house, and doesn’t have to wait until she’s in radio range with the opener).
She’s also decided she really likes Sirius radio. Not sure when the free subscription ends. I have a subscription for my car, but now that both of our cars will have carplay, I may switch to streaming-only in a few months. I’ve never tried the carplay sirius app, so we’ll see.

One thing to watch out for as the passenger is the car still seems to get confused when you have two key fobs, for example it'll unlock and adjust my wife's seating and mirrors but will link to my cell for CarPlay, wonky things like that. So I just make sure I leave my key fob at home when she's driving to save the trouble.
It's funny how a joint car becomes sole possession by one person. In my case Betty (id.4) seems to have become mine and my wife is convinced that it hates her as the other woman. Doors don't open for her, but my profile unlocks the doors and headlight wink as I approach. Her XM is already set up - that’s how she found out she likes it. I would have added it to my existing account but I can’t figure out how to display the radio ID in the car. Maybe you can’t do it until the freebie expires.
She has the key in her apple wallet, but I think she also carries a fob or the keycard for some reason. In our house, we pretty much only drive our own car, so I don’t have a key to her car unless I need to actually drive (which has happened from time to time with her X3). I have my own BMW ID but won’t bother setting it up as a secondary ID in the car, and I won’t link my phone to her carplay. Keep life simple.
