Musk going full Nazi

Possibly. I think we're still at the point where the "...yeah, but I really like his tax plan" mindset, and general apathy are still factors that need to be considered.

I think America's biggest problem right now is complacency, and a lack of imagination. Until the consequences come and personally kick each and every one of us in the dick, we're not gonna move.
eggs cost $10 a dozen.

Trump is sending Musk to Boeing because he's annoyed the new Air Force One planes aren't completed yet. Maybe SpaceX can build them instead. Given both companies recent record and going scorched earth on regulations there's a pretty good chance it'll drop from the sky with Trump and Musk in it. So yes please, let's get those puppies in the air stat!

When Musk arrives in hell he'll probably just think he successfully colonized Mars.

It depends on what you by move. There’s a difference between the impetus for protesting hard enough to bring down a proto authoritarian and voting - the latter being the original question, would Trump still win an election if it were held today. And while we can’t know of course, an already close election might’ve been tipped:

eggs cost $10 a dozen.

Ah but now Fox News has told everyone that there’s a bird flu outbreak and not actually the president’s fault so everyone is fine!

But as discussed egg prices and the “were you better off 5 years ago” it was all, for the most part, BS:

Yeah but egg prices stopped being an issue since Trump took over, funny that.
And as some on here would love to point out, "It was never about the eggs!" Except that they posted that was the problem, over and over and over again.

Trump will just call negative polls fake news and has already pulled fake high approval polls out of his ass. So we just get to sit and watch the 2 political suicide bombers do what they do.

If things go as some fear there’s no amount of thought control police posted on corners that’s going to erase the fact that we’re becoming a shit hole country.

Steve Bannon trying out the same remarkably disingenuous "oh I'm just waving" thing as Elon, as if they think modifying a Nazi gesture by aiming the arm partly to the side is a cute way to signal their supporters, provoke everyone else, and misrepresent as paranoid those who accurately identify the gesture. They're toying with the murder of 6,000,000 Jews (along with Jehovah’s Witnesses, Roma, gays, and the disabled).

Alas, I expect we'll see more of this.

I get the impression he's just looking for the attention. We know that Republicans are normalizing support of Nazis so it's really nothing new at this point.

It is new in that there are levels of support and symbolism, and this is another level. I think of it as expanding the zone of normalization, and the bigger they make the zone the more dangerous things become.

Bloomberg interviewed me and it's out now across all their affiliates. Here's a snip:

Some consumers won’t be giving Tesla’s new models a look. Eric Thurber, a San Francisco Bay area resident who bought a Model 3 in 2021, expected to keep his car for at least five or six years. After Inauguration Day, he decided to sell at a steep loss.

“I couldn’t handle what Elon Musk was doing anymore,” the 58-year-old said. Thurber had checked on the resale value of his car months earlier and was getting periodic updates indicating that it was depreciating precipitously. While he still ..
