Fuxwit handed out two $1M checks to winners in his voters' "lottery". One of them was, how fortuitous, chairman of WI College Repubs, the other some vague woman. It seems the winners were preselected, not chosen at random (because that could have embarrassing results), meaning this felony was also fraudulent.

He’ll be ok. Hey, at least it wasn’t a bottle of water, that would have been crossing a very clear line. These were just six-figure checks, so he should be good.

Nothing will be done. It’s already happened, the courts won’t care unless it’s a democrat helping a person of color get to the polls or avoid heat stroke in line.

Yeah. And while I’m ok with limiting junk food and stuff, I’m not serious about it because I grew up poor and going to the grocery store, having food in the home until things got thin before payday or having some money to go out to a restaurant is a big deal for some people. They aren’t living in the lap of luxury, it’s called trying to not feel destitute and have a little enjoyment. Having a smartphone isn’t some luxury either these days. Try to get a job without one. Sorry, I’m not all that worried about someone who doesn’t work having junk food or a smartphone. How many “welfare queens” does it take to equal the amount of free money the government gives Musk’s companies, and himself personally in the form of bogus tax breaks?

The only thing I can surmise is that they see anyone with a penny and try to figure out how to make it their own. Some of these self-professed “bootstrap” millionaires and billionaires are probably a way bigger drag on society than anyone getting hot pockets and coke with a handout. Probably lazier and dumber too, don’t let the suits and inflated egos fool you.

Thing is, you have to make a calculation: if you are spending 5%+ of your department budget on enforcing rules regarding how people use a given benefit, implementing those rules is not cost effective and most likely petty/arbitrary.

Personally, I would prefer to attack junk food at the source, eliminating subsidies for businesses that manufacture crap, possibly even penalizing them. Reducing the availability of junk food for everyone is better overall than trying to decide who can get it.

Like I said, it’s something I understand in theory - your idea sounds far better - but I have no interest in, really.

I’m far more concerned with people whining about what someone is getting with whatever benefit, when it’s usually the biggest grifts and crooks doing the most whining, when they also have the literal least to complain about. I mean seriously, it’s gross.
