The fall of Tesla

Best part yet: Tesla has (allegedly) been committing odometer fraud in order to avoid warranty repairs.

wait - what? it doesn’t measure how many times the wheel turns, and instead uses some arbitrary algorithm to compute miles?

I don’t think mine does that, but mine is very old.

Ferris Bueller would like a word...
Yeah, I thought of that too:

If this allegation is true, it should be easy to test. I'd also be surprised why it hasn't come up before with all the Teslas that have been sold.

Yeah I'm not sure where they get that from. Seems like something like TeslaFi would be able to show such a discrepancy fairly easily.

As far as I know the speedometer and odometer is tied to wheel circumference. I wonder if verygreen/greentheonly knows anything about this.

NY looks to be trying to pull the wavier Telsa has to sell direct to consumer and give it to others. Wonder if this will spread.

What id you guy's take on direct vehicle sales?
They're right to do it, this was meant to incentivize and instead was taken advantage of by the monster we now know as Musk.

That said, when I originally purchased my Tesla through the app it was by far the easiest buying experience I've ever had. Very seamless. So I'm not sure what good retail does other than being a lot where you go pickup from.

Dealerships provide a place you can go to get service, and competition for lower vehicle pricing.

Right, short of servicing and delivery I don't really see them as retail anymore anyway.

More bad news for the cyber dumpster

Yeah, I read an article yesterday (maybe it was linked from here) that said a guy was pissed when he found out the Cybertruck that he just negotiated for had actually been sitting in a lot since January. He is (unsuccessfully) trying to force them to get him a newer build.
