I find it interesting that a lot of loud and proud “free thinkers” agree with the Republican party 90% of the time. But in some fairness, the Republican party is cartoonishly contrarian and to a lesser degree so are loud and proud free thinkers. But the Republican party is also void of original thought so there is a good chance the belief originated with the free thinkers that then got absorbed by the Republican party.

And I’m singling out the “loud and proud” free thinkers because there are free thinkers that don’t mostly align with the Republican party. They just aren’t loud about it, and you sound like less of a free thinker when you go “I’m a free thinker and mostly agree with consensus!”

I watched a documentary on the satanic panic in the 80’s and how it was at least partially used to distract from all the sex abuse going on in Christian churches at the time. Satanic panic is back in fashion. Do the math.

Heard a discussion about the new right of which Musk and his friends are a part of. What they want to do is replace democracy with a corporate monarchy. They couldn’t tell you exactly what that would look like because they don’t even know yet, but there already are parts of this philosophy in the real world like Hong Kong where only corporations and the ultra rich are allowed to vote for the majority of candidates and initiatives. The average citizen only gets to vote for about 20% of what’s on the ballots. Also look to Dubia where workers have zero rights.

It's hardly shocking this philosophy comes out of Silicon Valley. Just look at all the perks they brought into the office to incentivize workers to never need to leave work and then management reacts with anger and vengeance when the workers say what they really want is a balanced life completely disconnected from work. According to them not being married to your job is the new lazy.

Spent some more time with my Rogan bro cousin. I try to avoid politics at all costs with him but he can’t help himself. He said he used to be a lifetime Democrat and not all that political but when covid hit Democrats started taking away all his rights. This speech included picking up the pocket constitution that he now keeps on his coffee table. Yeah, that guy. But something doesn’t track. I spoke to him during the covid period. He masked up and got the vaccine and I never detected any kickback towards that. Then Rogan and other contrarians started chiming in with their ”data” and “Democrats say this happens 0% of the time but it’s actually 5%!!” Then 15%!.... then 20%!!!! …and we’re now well past 50% of the time according to them.

Rehashing what I’ve said before, but a group’s beliefs isn’t what makes it a cult, it’s how they are indoctrinated into that belief. Part of that is making them feel special for following the leader and as a reward they will get insider information that nobody has. Check that box on this one.

Oh, and he also enjoys watching a YouTube channel featuring a guy running around SF to show what a shithole it has become. I have no idea what he enjoys watching that's actually positive, if anything at all.
