The Trump Indictment Thread

How did we get to the point where a low-IQ steak salesman successfully defeated state and federal governments and brainwashed half a country? Truly remarkable.

I’m more than happy to be in the minority who sees Trump as the same dimwit they saw in 2015 (or before). He’s not interesting or charismatic to me. He’s not a showman, smart or sharp. He’s an oaf who stumbles his way through life while pulling others down, and people cheer it. I have no issue losing an election. This guy is dense and I’m not budging. I will have to readjust with the knowledge that I may be as equally stupid as the people around me, but maybe I’m shallow too because I don’t want a ridiculous-looking granny who’s dumber than a broken dildo running the country.

Looking forward to see which Trump cult republican is the first to face his wrath when something is a bridge too far. And they can’t blame dems. Should he interesting to see how MAGA reacts if their chosen candidate isn’t picked for Senate majority leader.

He’s still a criminal too - just one with a big cult and a lot of money.

It’s a death blow to the American exceptionalism myth that this thing was pulled off by Donald Trump. It’s not a belief that “this could never happen in our country” so much as who pulled it off which is cartoonishly pathetic. The self-proclaimed real America, we see you now.

Right. That’s the main issue. It’s not what is happening, it’s who’s running the show. Would be like Richard Simmons giving an alpha male self-defense class. It’s not the idea I don’t understand, it would be the image of seeing a biker gang and athletic white supremacists sweating to the oldies in a dance studio to beef up their machismo. It doesn’t make sense.

I would say there’s no way he gets 50 senate votes - but this is the Trump cult we are talking about. I do not anticipate Thune having any more of a spine than McConnell.

Every republican in congress deserves to be pointed at and ridiculed, publicly and often. For them to even float this idea should have them saying “no way”, anything else like “wow, I didn’t expect this. He’ll have a tough hearing”… I may as well be hearing you make slurping sounds at Trump.

After some reflection on losing the election… I think ridicule, laughter and pretending nothing happened last week is the best path forward. We’ve won four of the last five popular votes, and Trump and Bush didn’t even get their first terms with the popular vote. I’ll let the politicians figure out how to win. I have no interest in trying to convert anyone who can look at Trump and pretend he’s anything except a moron.

This is going to be entertainment, and the parts that aren’t (like grandma being told to go back to wherever she came from) I have no choice but be somewhat apathetic about. I didn’t vote for this freak show.

Jack Smith has dropped the election subversion case against Trump.

Our Supreme Court and the American public have now greenlit subverting the will of the electorate. I expect the stolen documents case will be dropped as well, so presidents are now free to take whatever they want when they leave office.

I can’t believe our system has allowed a retarded mental midget with no discernible skills beyond lying and unfunny name-calling to dismantle our systems and institutions.

Sometimes pain is the best teacher, so hopefully Trump supporters will feel the pain of allowing this dimwit to not only take the reigns of power again, but to do so after proving over and over he’s uniquely unqualified.

I wouldn’t rule out Gaetz, MTG or Boebert becoming our next president, depending on how much JD Vance drops the ball on his loyalty test the next four years.

Amazing. Foot soldiers went to prison, and the ringleader gets rewarded. Screw the constitution, Trump ought to just ram through an oligarchy, name Don Jr the next president-elect and see how much our our braindead public will accept it. What’s the point of the rule of law and electoral charade?

Ugh is all I can say.

The problem with this nitwit taking the reigns and hoping that those who voted for him ultimately feel the pain is that the next big challenge to this Nation or the world, and there will be no doubt that one will happen, will have a buffoon in power.

I don’t care what happens, our system must have sucked in the first place if this dipshit can dismantle it. I’ve seen dogs sharper than Trump.

I may start lending my voice to radical conservative causes to bring the pain faster. We will see if Trump was honest about not wanting a national abortion ban. Many voted for that, and I think people should get what they want, even in a fake democracy.

I’m not interested in playing defense another four years, anything that needs saved from a mental eunuch is probably not worth saving in the first place. Where do I sign up for a national Musk and Billionaire lifestyle funding tax?

I really didn’t want Trump, but now that it’s coming… to hell with it. May as well make it comically painful.

That really sucks... But there's still a glimmer of hope when trump leaves office as Smith moved to drop the charges without prejudice.

I heard an attorney say that if the lesson Nixon was that nobody is above the law, then the lesson today is Trump is indeed above the law.

This was to be expected and I think one of the reasons he won was because the people got tired of all the charges and trials, including me. I mean yes he should be held to the standards of everyone else but at the same time it was Trump TV 24/7 and just not worth it.

The lesson Republicans learned from Nixon is never admit guilt and never back down. It appears that paid off.

Crime pays, it pays well, and if you’re a racist, poor people will allow you to fleece them without trying. Also, people don’t hate the deep state and “politics as usual”. They want more corrupt, sleazy politicians.

That’s my takeaway.

Before today, I was thinking that trump would likely be pardoning himself for the two federal indictments right after he takes office in January. End of story.

Today, Smith moved to have the charges dropped without prejudice for both federal indictments, which was then granted by the judge. Since the two indictments do not exist anymore, is there anything left for trump to pardon himself?

If not, it seems Smith could then refile those charges right after trump leaves office in 2029 and then go to trial. If true, perhaps today's move by Smith was actually a good move, because that possibility might not exist if trump had the opportunity to pardon himself as soon as he's innaugurated in January.

Thoughts?

Seems like a lot are blaming Garland, it's fair criticism IMO. Democrats are too focused on what's right and don't have the balls to be as shamelessly devoid of a conscious as Republicans, it's always been their downfall.

There is a thing called the "statute of limitations" which could get in the way. Seems like it is a problematic law that could use some revision.
