Tim Cook still posts on Xitter

"Newest member". Hmm. Something we were not expecting?

But, SE is not new. He seems to be suggesting something actually new. And, the phone cycle is September.
The new SE was already rumored to launch next week and there was some suggestion that it might get renamed but still effectively be the SE (I don't think the name change was from a reliable source). That said, maybe there's something else, but I agree with @Cmaier it's likely the SE.

Combo iPad Pro / MacBook Pro, so people finally get their touch screen on the MacBook? (and walk away with it (the screen) whenever you want). It's time.

Guarantee it’s not that.

He's all in on MAGA now, all the billionaires are doing it.

Imo... he's walking the line *very carefully*, to the extent that Apple isn't subject to having a 100% import tariff imposed on the 600,000 iPhones manufactured per day (on the average) in China, making iPhones instantly unaffordable for most people, resulting in a huge revenue hit for Apple.

Outside of that, I seriously doubt that Cook is in the MAGA camp at all.

Can we please stop putting politics in the tech topics? This is supposed to be about whatever the new Apple item on Wednesday is (we don't know yet).
I think it is the “iPhone 16E”

While I understand the sentiment and News and Politics was hard-separated partly for that reason, that’s not always possible and will become less so as time as goes on. Tim Cook posting this announcement on Xitter means something and @Yoused who started the thread as he also discusses what the announced product might be is not wrong point that out - nor are the people who continued that aspect of the conversation. More broadly, the tech world, or at least a portion of it, is completely enmeshed in the Trump regime. And further, where does the line between "AI" and society/politics begin and end? While naturally as part of the human endeavor technology was and always will be partly political, that political aspect has taken on dimensions and importance beyond what it had before.

Again, I get where you’re coming from. I haven’t rejoined the formal News and Politics section here and part of me wants to see the tech section as an escape from what’s happening elsewhere. Indeed, it would be very comforting if we lived in a world where it was possible to pretend that this shit wasn't intertwined. But politics is going to bleed into here at times and it probably should.

I'm not advocating for reintegrating News & Politics into the standard forum, nor even more extreme merging tech into it or visa versa, but I think some flexibility is in order. Simply, I fear that the politics of things tech related is going to come up in the tech forum more frequently.
