The Democrat agenda 2022 and going forward

I think Harris made several mistakes. First, Walz while he seems to be a decent guy, was a horrible choice. At least from a strategic perspective. She was winning Minnesota no matter what. So he didn't get her anything there. A choice from a swing state such as Shapiro in PA or Kelly in AZ would have helped her carry those states. Of course in hindsight, it wouldn't have mattered, but no one knew that when the pick was made.

Second, she was horrible at answering questions. Even softball ones. After the election pundits on the left pointed to her not being ready to answer what she would have done differently from Biden. She was asked this several times, but the one from The View is the one that sticks out. How in the hell was she not prepared for this question? That answer should have been discussed among staff and committed to rote. And it is not just RW media saying this. The left wing pundity came out hard on this AFTER the election. Not sure why they didn't before when it may have mattered and could have changed things.

As to the economy and immigration: The economy is the tough one because of the inflation. And the inflation was created by printed COVID money. That was done and there was no going back and undoing it, but she could have been way more sympathetic to the struggles of some people. And had a plan to fix it that she could have articulated. She didn't.

On immigration, the Dems own this and it was an unforced error. In an mad dash to be less like Trump, they undid almost everything he put in place and it cost them. People are fine with immigration, but they will not stand for an invasion which is what was happening. The administration could have cracked down on it anytime they wanted, but waited until a few months before the election and by then it was too late.

Current polls suggest Harris is the 2028 front runner at like 41%. Really? Newsom is only at 8%. Double really? He is the one that scares me the most. But if they want to trot out Harris again, by all means do.

The Dems seemed to place all their chips on the abortion issue and it was simply too far down on this list of things most people cared about. Depending on the poll, it was anywhere from 4-6th place and most important to 8-10% of the people. That won't win elections especially when the Economy and Immigration are the top 2 and people trusted Trump more on these two issues.

Has anyone wondered why Jill who liked to dress in couch fabric most of the time wore a bright MAGA red outfit to vote?

That's a pretty good analysis. I'd only add that Harris spent too much time talking about how awful trump is (and would be). While true, that time could have been much better spent offering solutions/programs she'd put in place addressing people who were struggling economically and not being able to get ahead.

No way I'm reading the diatribe of a Republican who only ever holds Democrats responsible for everything telling us what the losing candidate did wrong, though I'm sure it's riveting.

That said, she was simply held to a different standard. What if she had been charged with sexual assault, had 6 bankruptcies, 91 felony indictments and more than one conviction? All considering, her record is clean as a whistle when compared to Trump. The people are not ready for a female president and the last 3 elections have proven that.

Listening to people who actually voted for trump via different NPR and other interviews it's easy to see what many voters really cared about. trump being a despicable person didn't rise to the top in many areas of the US. People struggling to get ahead (economically) in life did.

Harris didn't have a plan. trump lied about how he was going to quickly fix all that and apparently a lot of people believed him.

She came out with several plans, which we heard throughout her campaign, to the point that I didn’t want to hear it any more. I would hope that after all is said and done I don’t have to re-point out what they are here.

Let’s remember that she still got 74 million votes, a complete write off of is pretty unfair, especially when only running for two months against a candidate who’s been running for 2 years and was essentially the incumbent.

We lost, it sucks but it is what it is. I won’t have any Republicans preaching at me about it. I voted for the sane person and feel good about it. I’ll never see eye to eye with MAGA and don’t want to either.

I'm just reporting what I heard from post-election *voter* interviews in critical States. If we ignore that, the same mistakes will happen again. And vance will be Prez in 2028.

I'm hoping Newsom is planning accordingly and will have a compelling strategy by then. California (if it were a country) has the 5th largest economy in the world with a $3.9 trillion GDP.

Yes, by all means let the Republicans tell us what we did wrong. They voted for a rapist felon dude, they can suck it.

Enjoy your advice, I hope you learn something from it.

Is that supposed to be a slam? Is that really necessary? Why can't we have a civil conversation without that?

Ignoring voters who have real issues struggling to get ahead in life I don't think is a good strategy.

I'm saying if that works for you then have at it. Unless that advice is something like "should've had a candidate that rapes people", "has she ever even had a single bankruptcy?" "Zero felonies? Not in my America" etc. we won't learn anything. I don't believe this country was ready for a woman and I'm sticking with that, that's me. I don't need advice about what we did wrong from MAGA.

It's not a matter of it working or not working for me - that's irrelevant. Again... I'm just reporting what many voters said post election. They're the one's that count and should be listened to if winning is the goal.

Listening to Republicans, all while completely dismissing the 74 million of people who did vote for her, to be fair just a few minutes ago you said she had no platform when she clearly did, just wondering if you even gave her a fair listen? You don't have to like or agree with it but I think your point would come across as more credible if you had.

Next time we'll likely have a male candidate, Shapiro or Newsome, or someone else dynamic and even running on the same platform Kamala, all given the proper time to run the campaign without a Joe Biden leading them in. It will be a very different race no matter how you look at it.

Of course I did. I was a huge supporter and contributed $$$ to her campaign. And was very optimistic right up to the election she'd win. I didn't say she had no platform. I said, in hindsight, her messaging would have been a lot better if there were more talk about addressing people who were struggling to get ahead - especially in critical states.

Here's what you said after "listening to Republicans":
Harris didn't have a plan.

This is what the Republicans you're listening to have been saying ad-nauseam and it's 100% BS, it didn't matter that she did have a plan, they simply refused to acknowledge it.

But for the sake of argument, I'll agree that you seek the advice of Republicans and I think they can suck it. Happy to leave it at that.

The plan wasn't inspiring enough to get those struggling economically to vote for her. Of course she had a plan, it was just poorly apportioned to those whose votes she needed in important states.

"'ll agree that you seek the advice of Republicans and I think they can suck it."

Seriously? There you go again with the sideways slam. Is that really necessary?

Of course I don't. Again... I was reporting what voters said post election in critical states that determined the outcome of the election.

IMO the country didn't care, this is where we differ. She was the VP chosen because she was a woman of color, and yes she had a credible background, but she lacked the charisma to move the nation and couldn't change it being thrust into it with only two months to go. This was Trump's to lose and nothing he could do would've changed that.

Again, you seem to be ignoring that 74 million people DID vote for her. They really do count man and lest we forget that MAGA reminded us of the numbers that voted for Trump in 2020 when he lost, too.

But I want to be clear about this, Trump is a monster in every way and still won the election. It says that the millions that voted for him are a bunch of idiots who see the country as a reality show and not a democracy, why do you think his shows did so well. I would rather listen to fingernails on a chalkboard then what they have to say about where Democrats went wrong.

Agree with all of the above. Except your assertion that I'm ignoring the 74 million who voted for her. Nope... I followed the results very closely, I'm not ignorant.

I'm more interested in carefully understanding why she lost. So that something similar won't happen again. I suspect Newsom is doing the same.

Has anyone wondered why Jill who liked to dress in couch fabric most of the time wore a bright MAGA red outfit to vote?

No. Have you ever wondered why John Kelly ruminated on Trump’s affinity for fascists? Or why Trump can’t condemn them after a decade?

Of course not!

Look, I don’t entirely disagree with you, it’s just hard to take any of this crap seriously while you pretend your guy isn’t a diptard.

If Harris going through several policy points to bring down inflation while the world’s richest man and immigrant is promising pain before whatever growth he hopes to squeeze out of the middle class, I have no response left. Let’s see what happens in this train wreck of an admin that has derailed before it’s even left the station.

This is a freak show, pure and simple.
