The Trump Cesspool Thread- a place to drop misc Trump turds

Yeah, there are going to be more dead people tonight, and the reason they will succumb to the hurricane is they believe everyone but the people who actually know what they are talking about.

Seems obvious when stated but never really thought of it before that many in the Trump cult are first in their (non) Christian cult and it’s those leaders telling them they need to support Trump.

I can’t help but feel that part of that is due to the belief that they feel Democrats are more likely to investigate their highly profitable religious scam and put them out of business and possibly in prison.

Didn’t know where to post this but this is a good setup.

Extremist meteorologists and the media. If you’ve been following the media predictions for days up to the storm making landfall then right now the middle third of Florida should be under water, every building destroyed, and everybody who stayed in its path dead. One mayor even said they will be.

Clearly that’s not what happened. It really doesn’t help trust when you get inundated with apocalyptic predictions that don’t manifest. All the predictions leaned heavily on grand scale worst case scenario. It’s like an extremely truncated version of why some people don’t believe in climate change. Next time these predictions happen more people will stay and die based on this example.

That’s an no-win mentality. The storm was really bad and many of the models had it hitting at its peak. Had it done so, and it was a matter of luck that it didn’t, and the meteorologists hadn’t told people to get out, then those same people would’ve dismissed this storm and ended up dead now. And then the meteorologists would’ve been blamed. Hell in Italy a few years ago, some geologists were prosecuted and jailed for minimizing the probability of the later earthquakes that killed people. So again, it’s a no-win situation.

Look, no prediction is perfect but with hurricanes you always, always assume the worst case is what’s going to happen and leave if you can. Especially since Helene had just killed over 200 people. Given all that, I can’t disagree more that the predictions for Milton being truly terrible was a case of “extremist meteorologists” run amok - the storm and damage were bad enough: 10 dead so far, millions without power, and widespread destruction. We should just be thankful it wasn’t worse.

I think it's accurate to say that any guardrails Trump had previously, as minimal as they were, are now gone. IMO, this is a deliberate strategy on the part of Vance and his ilk. The crazier Trump sounds, the easier it'll be for them to invoke the 25th Amendment if he wins.

Maybe I misspoke when I said meteorologists when I should have said media, although I’m sure there are those in the ranks who want their Dr. Fauci moment or to get climate change deniers to STFU through catastrophic weather events evidence. Every other news topic is covered in terms of “the sky is falling/will fall!” terms whenever possible. It’s absurd to think that mentality doesn’t bleed into weather events.

May be a little too subtle for some, but there is a difference between possibility reporting and near certainty reporting. The predictions were almost all in near certainty terms and at best closed with an almost unnoticeable “or maybe not” type statement. The more people get near certainty predictions that don’t happen the less they are going to follow extreme action advise. I guarantee the next time this happens less people are going to evacuate as a result. It’s unfortunate these events are happening in regions that already have a massive distrust of the media and authority.

I think they’re too afraid of him and his followers for that.

I understand, but I still disagree. I’d rather them err on being too definitive to get people to leave. Frankly the type of person who would stay because the last prediction was too mild by a matter of degree despite the actual death and destruction still wrought is the same person who would stay if you qualified everything. And again if the worst that happens is you got out of the way of a massive Cat4 storm you might’ve survived, that’s not a bad thing. That’s what anyone who can is supposed to be doing anyway. Yes, unfortunately there is a massive trust gap, but that’s become endemic in our society and in a healthy society this wouldn’t be a problem and in our unhealthy one we’re already so far gone the people in these hurricane’s path saying that this undermines their trust are frankly just looking for an excuse. They’d be the first ones to also blame the media and the meteorologists for not being more forceful if the worst did happen. Again, it’s no-win.

After this I decided to check out The Cult of Trump on audible. I saw the book before but I’m really not interested in a book bagging on Trump supporters. There’s already plenty of that out there. But that’s not what the book is about. It’s about cults, their tactics, and how that relates to Trump.

A group’s beliefs doesn’t make them a cult. It’s how they are indoctrinated that makes it a cult. When you know this Trump does it to almost a cartoonish too on the nose level. Only the leader has all the answers and all other sources of information should not be trusted. Anybody who questions the leader will be shamed. Family and friends who aren’t in the group or share their beliefs should be abandoned. There are evil forces out there looking to take the leader and group out. When faced with the indefensible the leader will lie about not saying something they clearly did.

An event was mentioned that I vaguely remember. It was Trump’s birthday and there’s footage of his cabinet members each trying to outdo each other praising Trump on how great he is and what an honor it is to be in his cabinet. He was gleeful and agreed with their assessment of how great he is. That’s some serious cult/dictator shit right there that mostly got minimalized at the time.

Weather events is probably the wrong subject to ask for less extreme predictions as lives are literally on the line and I’m sure I’m just heaping it in with all the other overexaggerated and smoking gun stories that go nowhere or are proven false. I’m probably just tired of sensationalism whenever possible and the resulting predictible unnecessary outcomes from it.

I don't think they'll do it right away... they're counting on him to die. And as long as they can get Project 2025 going with Trump in office, they'll be OK, unless he does something so crazy that it puts their agenda at risk.

I’m not sure what that would be and that’s what we thought the last time. Yet when Republicans had the opportunity to rid themselves and impeach him after January 6th, nothing. So no I don’t think they’d do anything. He could have his finger on the proverbial button and it wouldn’t be Republicans who would stand up. That’s why Project 2025 aims to get rid of those in the government who would.

He’s just letting the wheels fall off, comfortable in knowing republicans won’t do anything about him, and he’s probably long been plotting his backup plan if he loses. The lying and gaslighting rises to new preposterous heights by the day. He’s farting and defecating during his lie marathons, ranting about flies and sleeping with sheets of paper with immigrations statistics. The ramblings of a racist grandpa after bedtime.

If it takes a half-decade to even really get the ball moving on prosecuting him for just about anything, he’ll likely be dead before facing any repercussions for whatever the hell he does from here on out. He has no interest in winning fairly, so I’m sure he’s long been plotting his post-election crimes if he loses, which I still anticipate he will.

Best we can do is defeat him next month and let the feds and his lawyers hash things out, away from the White House.

Prob is, if the VP informs Congress that the President is unable to do the job, and then the President comes back with "Yes I can!", Congress has to vote on it, and two-thirds of both houses have to side with the VP for the President to be deposed. It would be an interesting situation, to see Couchfucker try to get enough Democrats to support him. I really doubt he could, because the Democrats would much rather have the noisy doofus to deal with.

I doubt it would take much to have him declared incompetent, hell, he is there already.
