I honestly think some people need to get out of their bubble for a few hours a week. Meet and talk to people who think differently than you do. It doesn't even have to be about politics. Just do it.
I’ve tried that. Invariably, it always goes like this; “Please tell me what it is about this man that you think is not dishonest, stupid, racist or any of the above?”
“What? When has he ever lied!?”
How do you continue from that? There is no point. I literally have never had a real argument with a Trumper, even though I try. And these aren’t random people, these are otherwise intelligent and decent people who I like. But on the topic of Trump, it all leaves them and they just see a normal, patriotic man.
Just watch coverage of “liberal” media covering the democrats and being critical vs. right-wing coverage of Trump. You cannot tell me with a straight face “both are biased” or mainstream media is worse. I can promise you your IQ will be higher watching any non-conservative news source. So I don’t need to get out of my bubble, there is nothing to be gained. I try, but this isn’t Clinton/Dole, the choice between Harris and Trump was sane adult/sexual-assaulting criminal low-IQ felon. January 6, the Ukraine phone call, his attacks…
What type of lunatic live-tweets “POLICE ARE ON THE WAY!” on election night? “They’re eating the cats, they’re eating the dogs!”
This isn’t an episode of a quirky TV show or a reality show, this is supposed to be the presidency. I’ve been asking this question for a decade; explaining how bad the dems or GOP establishment was does not explain Trump. It explains why you were looking for someone, it doesn’t explain why you think Granny Orange is Rambo, or nepo baby lying grifter who has verifiably ripped people off for his entire adult life is a “fighter” or worth your time of day, much less your vote.
