USA Election 2024

Now I hear Elno said there will be some "short-term economic hardship" while "restructuring the economy". That sounds like a message of pure evil. They plan to privatize every damn thing they can and hand the country over to the billionaires. And "short-term" is not likely.

This is one reason ShitGibbon said to his followers, "you won't have to worry about voting any more" – with the plutocrats in charge, voting will become meaningless.

We are well and truly fucked.

Imagine if Trump and the world’s richest man have a falling out.

American Oligarchy. This is who Americans chose to ease their economic pain. Musk and a family of nepo babies in a gilded country club. Good luck! 😂

*Now, the Kremlin is claiming the call with Trump and Musk never happened, and Ukraine is doubting the call happened. Who the hell knows?

Yeah, the EC is shit, made even worse by the fact we are a monumentally stupid and ignorant population. I can promise you that if Harris wins, at least two or three of my conservative friends will post a giant election map and seething in disbelief that someone who won a swath of dessert and barren wilderness did worse than someone who picked up tiny nothingburgers like LA county or Manhattan. They are tiny compared to Montana, after all.

Man, I can’t wait for this to be over.

Like clockwork. (Although this is not a conservative friend - I don’t see much politics on my FB feed, the algorithms are pretty good).

It’s like how there is no middle on anything. It can’t just be that he won decisively, they have to paint it as ten times bigger than the last two elections. If this is a mandate, what was Biden’s victory? Dude won with twice Trump’s margin of voters.

We need to change some of our political slogans.

“Keep it stupid, simp.”
“Feelings don’t care about your facts.”

It’s not that they’re touting his victory, that much I get. It’s the way they’re pretending 2020 was just “eh, well, you know. But we’re all good now.”

Assuming in 4 years that we're still living in the same reality we are today, he can't run again. And he won both the electoral college and the popular vote. Seems like a perfect time to dump the electoral college. While they're still riding that "there's more of us than you" high. I don't even care which side is helped or hurt by it, it's an outdated system that needs to go. Everyone's vote should count equally. We do it at every other level of our election system. There's no reason we can't do it for presidential elections as well.

News outlets reporting Marco Rubio will be Secretary of State. Hopefully he can put his ears to use and save taxpayers money on his flights.

And to think, it was just a little under a decade ago they forever ruined presidential debates by arguing over “hand size” in the stage.

Should be interesting to see how Rubio explains to his constituents who will see deportation of their hard-working friends and family neighbors explain how he co-exists with Trump’s militant far-right border czar, and hardline anti-immigration Stephen Miller.

Florida will probably have a lot of cooperation with the Trump admin on deportations too.

I believe this was the most decisive victory we have seen since Reagan, I don't even think Obama swept all the swing states did he?

Politico: Trump completes swing-state sweep with Arizona victory
See this post:

It was decisive and enough for them to claim they have a mandate. But it wasn’t like he won 60/40 or something. He’s walking away with fewer votes than Biden got last time, and a few more electoral votes from picking up Nevada. It was essentially the Hillary race all over again. Not the campaign, but the end results.

I’m actually happy he won the popular vote this time.

Though I do wonder if democrats will ask to investigate all that cheating and fraud Trump claimed was happening in black cities - tweeting in all-caps “AUTHORITIES ARE ON THE WAY!”. All that noise ended suddenly when he started winning.

I’d like to ask Herdfan what he thinks about a presidential candidate live-posting BS like that, but I expect no answer. Which is an answer in itself - “don’t care, so long as he wins”. That is a sentiment shared by many, just wish he’d admit to it.
Shitbird Greene claims a mandate when 4M more, out of 330M vote for authoritarian rule. Our broken democracy is constructed so that a 22% vote for A LOSER is a mandate for failure and means we are all losers. Our bad. Democracy seems to be over rated at this point, and there looks to be a slow motion global rejection of the principle. One argument, previously proposed is that in the big picture, billions of us are too many, and operating under cannibalistic Capitalism is the recipe for long term economic and environmental self destruction as greed over group survival holds sway. Besides the planet burning, our economy won’t survive the greed and the disenfranchisement of the majority so the few can live it up.

Previously posted: The fragility of democracy, here are the approx numbers:
• US Adult citizens: 337M
• Harris: 71M (21%)
• Trump: 74.6M 22%)
• Ambivalent Non-Voters: 191M (56%)

This is just how fragile democracy is. You have to fight for it and be willing to give it up when out voted or it’s no longer democracy, but something else. We just voted democracy down by electing a lawless, authoritarian. So be it.

I’m still getting angry about it until I calm myself and see the big picture. From my perspective, this loss really does not matter that much. Really?… you ask.

My source of comfort is viewing the Earth Simulator as either a learning simulation or a vacation. Both ideas offer hope, because why learn if there is no more substantial and lasting purpose? What we do here in itself means nothing without some existential connection. Fighting to save our freedoms and the planet is simply an exercise of our intelligence and moral standards.

Recognition and action is the battle to win. Yet, the importance of the outcome of these struggles lie beyond the simulation. None the less, we fight them and hopefully learn from our errors, with the opportunity to apply these lessons later after the ashes have settled. 🤔

Congrats to those demanding a ceasefire and voted against Harris, hope you're happy with your choice.

Out of all the most probable Trump foreign policy decisions this one was the most obvious and immediate. I don’t believe Ukraine is immediately and thoroughly going to be get thrown under the bus if for no other reason than Congress will at least attempt a speedbump.

The single issue ‘pro-Palestinian in Gaza and anti-Israel’ voter, if they voted to tear the US down (and I won’t be surprised if some number of them did). They probably felt such outrage they were willing to screw themselves over here in the US as co-martyrs, as they bolster the forces that would be happy to see Gaza turned into lifeless rubble.😔

Here’s Trump’s ambassador to Israel, Father Huckster…

“I have to be careful saying this, because people get really upset — there’s really no such thing as a Palestinian,” Huckabee told a Massachusetts rabbiduring his 2008 presidential campaign. “That’s been a political tool to try to force land away from Israel

I'm sure to some this seems petty but I don't blame her in the least. In fact if we don't get along with some family members then I've never understood why we "have to" see them during the holidays. They're like anyone else you can't stand to be around, I don't want to be around a bunch of blowhard MAGAts either out in the wild or in my own home.
