#truth!thinking the same thing.
I do agree with the 20 on one thing - maintaining status quo doesn't work. Maybe this is just human nature sorting things out when elected officials can't muster the willingness or know-how to work together.
Unfortunately, negativity and fighting perpetuate each other. But the reverse is also true - people working together and showing things can get done can be infectious too. Problem is, neither side has really been able to get that ball rolling.
Here's a very interesting AP photo by Andrew Harnik that popped up in the Tampa Bay Times: Democrat Al Green of Texas having a chat with Byron Donalds, the nominee and so far preferred candidate of the holdouts. Wonder what that was all about. Photo is from today after 7th ballot.

That looks like Burgess Owens. Byron Donalds is younger and with a beard.
Something might be up. Donalds didn't vote when his name was called a minute ago.
Was he present?Something might be up. Donalds didn't vote when his name was called a minute ago.
The NYT live vote count tally showed that he didn't vote right away on the previous vote either......maybe he wants to make sure he's not the only one voting for himself
Was he present?
FYI - CNN is reporting this is now the longest House speaker contest in 164 years.
You know what they say, 10th time's a charm.Yeah, that happened earlier too. Could be he's waiting to see how others vote before he casts a vote for himself or someone else, or who knows what else.
Votes aren't final until called by the clerk. Members can miss a vote and vote after the roll call, or change their vote before its final.

I'm noticing a pattern here. Democrats should keep going - this is almost like a filibuster at this point. Or maybe they can give all members-elect a gavel, tell them to sit down. Last one remaining in the chamber with gavel in hand gets to speaker.
If republicans can't get their shit together, that's about what this is going to become.
Kind of:So we're back to the 1859, eh? Take away their smartphones and hand out candles to light the darkness
