Hey, that's what cats do, no?

I find it hard to laugh at this joke, because I've found it to be the opposite. The only cat I've been attacked by was rescued off the street less than a week prior, and he lived with us for another decade after that without problems. Our current cat seems to really only have it out for raccoons (why?). And there's plenty of stories of cats waking up owners who were having breathing issues while asleep (sleep apnea), protecting members of the family in danger (see below), and so on.
I guess I'm a little tired of the jokes of "cats don't care" (and the whole Dog vs Cat dynamic in many of them) when our cat has been getting me through a tough part of my life while at the same time fighting two different cancers of her own. She has more empathy and compassion than many people I know, even though she's also going through a lot.
Yes, but can sheep herd cats?
Yeah, the idea that cats are always aloof and not in touch with their humans has become a meme, though we cat lovers know differently.
The night before we had our cat put down, he came in our bed, lay between us, and let us pet him for a few hours, something he hadn’t done in quite some time. I think he sensed our sadness and knew something was up. I will always remember him that way.
Pretty sure you are being judged for taking that picture. LOL.

Ah, I know that kind of talk. You must be another Catheist."Are you here to lead my soul to the afterlife?"
