In fairness, "sex work is work". People are expected to put on smiles for customers all the time, no matter how they actually feel about the job at hand. And the industry doesn't exactly have a great record of taking care of their talent, in part because these folks already operate at the margins of "acceptability" in society and don't get a lot of protections from exploitation.

Not to nullify your point, per se, as the comparison Musk tried to make is as stupid as it is gross. Just more a reminder that we don't actually know how she actually felt, exactly because it would ruin the fantasy being sold for money.

With every Trumper, it always seems like life was better before I knew who tf they were. I was late on hearing about Musk, and Tesla for that matter. I don’t follow stocks and I have little interest in cars beyond as a means for transportation. So I knew little about both Musk and Tesla until fairly recently (maybe six or seven years ago).

I liked it better when I had heard of neither.

I guess kissing Trump’s ass and appealing to bigots is a better method of pushing his cars and getting subsidies than merely pushing green technology.

Most evidence I’ve seen is that Tesla sales have been hurt substantially since Musk started his alt-right turn (along with increasing competition too I should add). He does this because this is who he is - I’m sure he’d like to make money too but he’s a true believer that thinks leftists and trans people including his own daughter and others will destroy civilization and he’s the savior who has to fight against them. While I’m not a fan of OpenAI’s CEO either, to paraphrase Sam Altman, “Elon wants the world to be saved, but only if he gets the credit for saving it.”

For some Trump supporting billionaires yeah it’s just about the money and tax breaks and regulations and they don’t care beyond that, but for others, nah they believe in this shit. They’re as much true believers as the saps at the Trump rallies.

Trump’s “economic speech” in NC today was another train wreck. He’s still whining about Biden dropping out, as if it’s the democrat’s responsibility to help him get elected or something? Whines about Kamala’s Time cover, her laugh, made up statistics, would read the teleprompter for two seconds before riffing, said the campaign had a “spy” in the room (for a public event), praised dictators… it was the same crap as last week

Why doesn’t the mainstream news ask us what his campaign is hiding as to what they know about Trump’s mental deterioration?

Oh yeah, they’ve already laid the groundwork for that. Nobody cares except the cult. The only question is how miserable will they make life for everyone else. If he loses by a bigger margin than 2016, that may be the route they go. I hope even this crippled Supreme Court won’t humor him on that, although Gorsuch did something most justices don’t, and responded to Biden’s calls of a reform with public “be careful”.

That’s up for interpretation, I suppose, but it’s usually been precedent to stay silent if what you say can be that easily misinterpreted.

Regardless, I hope republicans just hit the reset button if Trump loses and purges the party of the nitwits - they are due a renaissance, but it ain’t happening with Trump at the top. He has set the party back 50 years easily. We’ve already gone from quacks like Cruz, Rand Paul and Jim Jordan to folks like Gosar, MTG and Boebert. Whether they continue the downward trend or try to get moderate conservatives with common sense and decent values is up to them, but I’m almost afraid to say “it can’t get worse than this”.
