The Democrat agenda 2022 and going forward

It’s being reported that wealthy donors are pulling away from Democrats due to their lack of mission and they are scared of Trump. That’s just great. I wonder if they have the imagination to think of what it feels like to be more towards the middle or bottom of the wealth scale while these policies directly affect their life in major ways. They don’t have the luxury of magical “let’s just wait and see how things play out” thinking.

I think what disgusts me the most is all the misery in the world is caused by the greed of the wealthy and now they are acting like they are the biggest victims who need protection. None of this would be happening if it wasn’t for them.

I don't blame them one bit, I know I'm not giving them another cent right now either. Unfortunately the only ones being represented at the moment are the uber rich and corporations, regular people have nothing but toothless protests.

Not sure what we can do at this point, it's the Republicans country to rule how they see fit.

We've seen people in other countries hit the streets by hundreds of thousands if not millions for a lot less than what is going on in our country right now. Yesterday's protests were pathetic. It appears the decades long Republican think tanks accurately predicted how apathetic and historically stupid we are. I've thought for a long time we need to be humbled by having our ass handed to us. I just didn't think it would be our own government doing it to us.

We don't have until the midterms. I'd say even a year is way pushing it. If we don't see major kickback and action very soon it's over. Trump's latest attack is on the election integrity commission. Expect epic wins for Republicans despite reality showing it should be the opposite.

I don't see a way out of this that doesn't involve war, civil or world, and many historians feel the same way. There's too many people damaged and too far gone to retreat to "Meh, win some/lose some."

People didn't attend the protests for a few reasons.

1. It is cold as F in many of the Central and Northern states.
2. The constant scare of "The death of democracy!" from the MSM. I think people are over saturated with it and are numb.
3. A lot of "Meh, it hasn't effected me yet."

I recently found out my Democrat uncle in his 70's who was a CNN and MSNBC junkie stopped watching the news the day Trump took office. I somewhat get it on one level, but I also don't get somebody who was consumed with political news just completely stops giving a shit. It's not like conservatives stopped watching Fox when Biden won, but that mentality seems to also be playing a part here on the seemingly non existant resistence.

Biden winning amounted to a stabilization of the country. This is exactly the opposite of that. I am not that far off from 70, and I can undestand how at that age he would feel like fuck it, what can I do? Right now, protesting serves in helping the government identify who to go after – in the past, that would have sounded paranoid, but times have drastically changed.

The Republicans are holding the cards, but a winning hand does not stop an angry fist (especially when the other players think you have been cheating). Power exercised injudiciously rapidly puts the powerful in serious danger, moreso if they do not grasp the limitations of authority.

I think part of it also might be that he's in pretty good financial shape. He's been in investment properties most of his life and is in the process of selling them off as he eases into retirement. Whatever negative impacts he may experience as a result of this administration will probably be more of an annoyance then a life or lifestyle destroyer.

Exactly this. A little complacency mix with numbness. Not trying to disparage him, in fact I feel about the same. Except I got farther to go for retirement and I am about 5 gazillion dollars short of financial security, but I am banking on the HGTV dream home raffle!

I don’t blame him on turning off MSNBC (terrifying echo chamber, over and over and over) and CNN (complete turn coats). Not sure where to turn for the news anymore.

I also wonder how much of this hinges on relying entirely, or almost entirely, on legacy media. It would be like if you're Catholic and find out the Pope was totally wrong and therefor Christianity in totality is fucked and there's nothing good that can come from it. Possibly a bad example because a lot of not good is coming from Christianity right now.

Are any democrats even home? How utterly miserable to see Trump tap dancing on every American ideal while democrats seem to be picking their ass and looking around.

That goes for Obama too. Very disappointed in the party as a whole the past year.

I think everyone is just stepping aside, and watching how far it goes.

As a country, we only once faced a true threat to our standards and ideals in our long history, and it's since been whitewashed into a little spat among friends. We've come to view everything we hold dear for granted, and we need a stern reminder that it's not.

So yeah, let it roll. Let it get so bad that we can no longer ignore it or excuse it. The only true way out is through.

I'd like to see a good percentage of democrat congress members say they are changing from democrat to independent. There's nothing to lose and their constituents on both sides would probably applaud it.

I'm tired of "Democrat points out hypocrisy of Republicans" headlines. Hypocrisy in the Republican party isn't a bug. Its a feature and a quite prominent one. Quit bringing rubber bands to a missile fight. You're going to polite society us into the grave.

I'd like to see more republicans (including those in Congress) grow a spine.
Reminds me of that bit in Paper Moon,

I've got scruples too, ya know. You know what that is... scruples?
No, I don't know what it is but if you've got 'em, it's a sure bet they belong to somebody else!

I mean, I just cannot see how a Republiopath could get a spine except by stealing one from a reasonable person.

I can see that slowly changing as trump gets even closer and closer to Putin. While disparaging Zelenskyy more and more (the latest calling him a dictator). Especially with trump likely looking the other way should Russia manage to consume Ukraine - hopefully Europe would step up with arms.

Yeah... some repubs will be worried about being primaried. I suspect others won't care and will stand up..
