Here we are seven years latter and I'm still wondering about this story:

It's about Kushner and Michael Flynn having a secret meeting in the US (before trump was inaugurated in his first term) with the Russian ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak, wanting to set up a secret communications backchannel at the Russian embasy in the US, using Russian cryptographic equipment, so they could trade messages to Russian leadership without being intercepted by the US government.

What's funny is that after the meeting, Kislyak sent a message to his superiors in Moscow about the request. Which was intercepted and decrypted by the US, revealing what trump wanted to do.
