The Republican Agenda 2021 and Forward

Didn't watch it. Did the host push back on any of Trump's lies?
Looks like she just let him blort,

(Individual-ONE) criticized his fellow Republicans on abortion … "We're going to agree to a number of weeks or months or however you want to define it. And both sides are going to come together and both sides — both sides, and this is a big statement—both sides will come together. And for the first time in 52 years, you'll have an issue that we can put behind us," he said.

NBCNews fact check list

Apparently, he did not get the full 'hour' but was pre-recorded on Friday, run for part of the show and then reviewed by people on set on Sunday.

Watched a legal analysis of some of the far-right TikToks. Most of them mixed mythology, ideology, law, and the Constitution with a conclusion that is ultimately inaccurate or wrong. One gentleman believes “to fight enemies foreign and domestic” is part of the 2nd amendment. It is not. A lot of them went so far to the right that they passed it and went to the left in support of…wait for it…socialism. Some iteration of “the government needs to help us out more!” and they weren’t talking about tax cuts.

Well, if the government is failing to protect them from trannies and atheists and antifa, it needs to help them out more. I mean how can a proper White guy hope to make а good living when he has to navigate the Straits of Woke, with the girls room on one side and the boys on the other and you have to guess which person in there does or does not have a penis. Arrgh!

One guy went to great lengths to explain how he, a straight guy, wants to marry another straight guy so they can do macho guy stuff together, or even separately and he wouldn't have any expectations or need to check in. I think it was vaguely meant as a diatribe against nagging women which he's fed up with, but I'm not too sure about that...and most other viewers wouldn't be either. He really painted a picture about his ideal life with another straight guy.

It’s not just online quacks and influencers - it’s Mike Pence and Lindsey Graham who want a federal abortion ban, and Pence responded to Trump’s comments about the party being wrong on abortion by asking why we should leave the life of babies up to state legislators.

So now that they’ve gotten Roe overturned, many have dropped the pretense of leaving it up to the states. Up next is a federal abortion ban, and something being unpopular has bet stopped republicans before. And unlike their stupid election fraud claims, this argument does actually have some merit, even if I and most Americans disagree.

Then of course there’s the conservatives in the unions (that I support) and the homeowners in disaster areas who very quickly stop worrying about socialism and handouts when their asses are on the line. Or the ones who get food stamps and bemoan the black parent in front of them paying with food stamps - clearly different situations; the black person is getting a handout, the conservative welfare recipient is just down on their luck and needs a helping hand.

The Republican Party is a party of hypocrisy, false-equivalencies and projection, so it’s not surprising to see them fall backwards and argue against their own logic.

See, if I were a conservative, I would say the arrest of Tupac Shakur’s murderer was a conservative deep-state plot to take the heat off of the one term, twice-impeached, two-time popular vote losing, four times indicted, 91 felony-facing rapist fraudster and his clown-ran circus in Congress.

Democrats need to worry less about Joe Biden’s age - he’s fine - and more about getting their pointer finger in shape, because I’m going to point directly at republicans and say “this is their shutdown, the dumbest few members are controlling the caucus, McCarthy is a weak and feckless and coward, their committees are a fraud, they can’t and won’t police their own, and they can’t and won’t govern. Republicans have been a total failure and embarrassment, and if they want to keep doubling-down on stupidity, let’s point and laugh. You can absolutely treat the threat posed by these anti-democratic Trumpers while also letting them know in no uncertain terms they are wrong and acting stupid.

Yeah, except for the 211 Dems that also voted against it.

McCarthy reneged on the deal. Nobody else. Democrats AND Republicans in both chambers settled this already, this is House Republican buffoonery. Republicans have controlled the house in every shutdown since 1990. This is nothing new. And the republicans saying “we will get blamed if there’s a shutdown” are correct, and they know they will be blamed because it’s their fault, not because of an unfair media or accusation.

McCarthy has enough votes to bring the deal he made with democrats to a pass. He’s too scared of the clowns to do it. And he’s screwed either way.

I suspect the same people cheering for a shutdown - most of them the same 1/3 of republicans who are die-hard Trumpers, will be the only ones blaming democrats for a shutdown. And that will not win elections.

Actually even Gaetz admits it’s all their own fault … not for the same reasons mind you …

McCarthy's caucus is a total shit show. Thing is, if he gets ousted, who takes his place? Chris Christy? ;)

Gaetz and the other like-minded spastics have nothing to lose. They don’t give a shit about the greater Republican party or the damage they can cause the party. They could literally be the last Republicans not voted out of Congress and they wouldn’t change a thing. Like Trump, it’s all about ME!! At least it makes it easier to determine places in the country you wouldn't want to visit based on their representative.

It's typical for the people to hold the party in power to account, I've only been watching the major networks the last few days but it's not a good look for McCarthy right now. He is also getting some Democratic support but it won't be even close enough to make a difference.

TBH I do think he's between a rock and a hard place, still not sure why he wanted the job so badly as those holding it hostage tried to warn him. It sounds like Matt Gaetz is trying to drum up support to have him removed, even reaching out to Democrats but I don't think they'll bite. Outside of a political vendetta they would have to offer a viable alternative to replace him and there's been no mention of that.

I expect it to get worse before it gets better. Is Gaetz going to back off again, or will this just spiral further out of control?

And yeah, the republicans will try to maybe blame democrats, but why would democrats help vote for a bill that even republicans can’t pass on their own, which is a deviation from what McCarthy already agreed to? House Dems already compromised with the House GOP, both sides of the senate and the President.

McCarthy is doing this solely for himself. It’s to save his job to the detriment of how many others? And this is a pattern in Republican leadership - Boehner, Ryan, McCain, Romney… all of these guys were the leaders just before Trump. Look at their reputations among the GOP.

You can’t blame knuckleheads for being knuckleheads, but McCarthy knows better, and he knew better immediately after Jan. 6

We should call it Kev's Government ShitDown.
He and the entire party will take the blame since they have control of the House. To be fair there are a lot of Republicans who want to avoid this as well, they're just being held hostage.
