The Republican Agenda 2021 and Forward

There is a Hindu dude who wants to be US President. He has a funny name.

Mediaite, which first reported the alleged payment, said an editor with the screen name “Jhofferman” had removed lines about Ramaswamy’s receipt of a (George's brother) Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans in 2011, as well as his role in Ohio’s COVID-19 Response Team. Jhofferman reportedly deemed the fellowship as “extraneous material,” while Ramaswamy allegedly made an “explicit request” to remove his COVID work.

Subsequently, the content was restored, with a section about the editing; there have been additional edits, and currently the page has a header that says the entry has "issues".

WASHINGTON—Claiming that historians have unfairly vilified the 20th-century German dictator and misrepresented his role in the far-right political party, many conservative pundits and activists argue that Adolf Hitler’s Nazi allegiances have been greatly exaggerated. “Just because Hitler was Führer and Chancellor of the Reich during World War II, liberals are always making him out to be some kind of Nazi,” political commentator Lee Gunderson told reporters Thursday, explaining that as a German politician who rose to power in the 1930s, Hitler certainly had to work with the Nazis, but that did not necessarily mean the group represented his beliefs. “He gets a bad rap because history textbooks are written by elite left-wing professors with a political agenda. Did Hitler attend a Nazi Party meeting or two? Sure. Did he wear a swastika on the arm of his military uniform? Yes, and so did everyone else in Germany back then. Are there films of him giving the Nazi Sieg Heil salute and making speeches in which he rails against the Jews? Most certainly, but are we willing to condemn a man for simply exercising his right to free speech?” Gunderson went on to state that it was obvious Hitler was being discriminated against for belonging to the master race.

At this point nobody should be surprised by this. Until more rational Republicans are able to take back control of the party they're just going to continue to crash and burn.

There are no more rational Republicans.

There are no more rational Republicans.
It is a bit like we say about the police: there are some crazy and or evil bastards on the force, but there are no decent officers, because the non-bad ones countenance the behavior of the bad ones and stand firmly behind them. There may well be non-scum Republicans, but they still back up the crazy/evil Rs and so we cannot count any R as decent or rational because they refuse to put down their crazies.

Agreed, it's going to take an actual movement before they start turning. One would think the aftermath of Trump would've done it.

Yeah...that would have been the perfect opportunity, and for minimizing losing face. Looks like it will soon be a permanently lost opportunity.

I'm keeping an eye on Sununu - not that I'd necessarily vote for him. Just curious and fascinated about how the overall dynamics of the current republican party are playing out. Nice seeing desantis recently step in it. With both feet. Big time!

Unfortunately we still have a scary amount of citizens who are politically aware as “There sure are a lot of mass shootings. I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s because we like guns and shooting people. Anyhow, I think my taxes are too high. I’m going to vote for the low tax candidates.”

You mean the report that accused the FBI of doing all sorts of things so bad that they already put controls in place so they don't happen again. Or that there was no link between the Trump campaign and Russia?

Yes and no. By using your logic, you should think the Mueller probe was a huge success.

And we know there were links between Trump’s campaign and Russia. Durham did not find that to be untrue, because of the simple fact we know it was and it already happened, it’s history, not a debatable scenario.

If found issues with the FBI. It found no evidence of bias, offered no further criminal recommendations and has two failed prosecutions.

A dud. 👎

Yep It‘s your choice to die from Lung Cancer and not expect the insurance company in this case or the hospital to cover your choice or put you in front of people who did not make known flagrantly bad choices.

In my case, I'm glad we restricted where you could smoke more. I get massive headaches from whatever additives they put in cigarettes (pipe smokers never triggered it). The worst thing ever is asking for the non-smoking section of a restaurant and have it turn out you are sitting right under the outlet of the HVAC which is pumping the smoke right to your table.

I am absolutely fine with the current arrangement of "smoke outside away from public entrances/exits of shared buildings".

Tim Scott is running for President.
Get ready for Trump attack posts. After all, I doubt Tim Scott can solve the Russia-Ukraine war in 24 hours, as Trump can.

With Florida's new bathroom law this is a fair question.

You still have those? Smoking is banned in all restaurants here. And we used to grow a lot of tobacco (including me).

Do you remember "Smoking" sections on airplanes? That was useless.

I would be better with it if people actually did this. They don't. :(

Right, I haven't seen indoor smoking anywhere in 20 years. I was a smoker for 35 years (quit 15 years ago) and come from a family of smokers, back in those days parents would both smoke in the car with the windows up and nobody ever thought anything of it, funny and sad looking back.

Even when I did smoke I chose to do it outside of my own house or car because I didn't want to keep breathing it when not smoking, plus it totally ruins everything in your house.

As a smoker for 10 years, I came back from working overseas which allowed me to buy a house. I quit cold turkey moving in, not wanting to f it up inside.

My mom smoked, but my dad just chewed cigars. Almost treated them like chaw. I hated mom smoking in the car, but you're right, windows up and a cloud of smoke going down the road.

I picked up snuff my first year at boarding school, but mom wouldn't let me use it in the house over that first summer, so I basically quit.

But it makes wallpaper surprising easy to remove.

Had a client who smoked. But she had a smoking area in her garage where she smoked. Didn't want to do it in the house.

My mom quit when she was in her 60's and always said she was going to take it back up when she turned 80 because she never felt right after quitting.
