I expect a lot more of this type thing happening. A lot of the rioters weren’t noobs to the justice system and police bullets don’t care about pardons. The pizzagate guy who stormed the restaurant was also later killed by police. Expect MAGA to come up with a conspiracy theory about police hunting them down. Hey, maybe if they just comply they won’t get shot.

Most are radical domestic terrorists, letting them out of jail didn't change who they were, it just released them back into the wild. Oddly enough they are attacking the same law enforcement they pretend to support.
 
I can't help but wonder if the TikTok moderators are alt-right now (to appease Trump) - my most recent comment that was deleted was in response to a Native American being interrogated by ICE - it was "Me, I think the Native Americans should start deporting all of the white dudes. Send them back to Europe!" :)

I heard from other sources that when TikTok went dark and then came back on it leaned to the right. Xi and Putin love Trump because he's far more of a threat and destructive to the US then even they are. I don't think it would be possible for them to have a better person in office. Even if he threatens them he's still doing them a huge service growing the rot from within.

On a related note, I also heard Bluesky is getting flooded with neoliberal operatives telling people to trust in the institutions and doing whatever it takes to keep eyes off the wealthy.

If you were an enemy of Rome, why wouldn’t you be celebrating the breakdown of Rome’s ability to govern and project power? If you could spend 10 coin to nudge that along when it would take 10,000 coin to do it militarily, why wouldn’t you?

While I have no love for the authoritarian regimes of Russia or China, they do have agendas that are easier to pursue if we are distracted and divided. Putin wants to regain the imperial glory of past Russian eras, and Xi wants to see China rise to the dominant economic power on the globe. Both of which are easier if we are too busy with “bread and circuses” to project power and support allies that impede those ambitions. So of course they are nudging things along with state-sponsored operations against the US.

But some of this is that in the case of something like TikTok, those moderators are in the US, and so it’s less likely that individual things like this are because of interference, but rather as either appeasement to a political party that is essentially fighting for the right to flood the zone with shit, or emboldening of employees that are themselves alt-right.
 
During the DOJ confirmation hearing it was asked about the possibility of Trump pardoning the Jan 6th participants. Throughout all the hearings those being questioned and Republican members deflected or got outraged about hypothetical questions.

"I find it hard to believe that the president of the United States or you would look at facts that were used to convict the violent people on January the 6th and say it was just an intemperate moment . . . . I think it's an absurd and unfair hypothetical here." --U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C.

2 days later Trump pardoned all of them. :ROFLMAO:

That and I suspect with Musk and Zuckerberg going all in on MAGA a lot of people likely jumped ship regardless, just happened that some are his followers.
 
So in just the 1 week Trump has been in office the price of eggs has skyrocketed, predictions are it's going to remain that way for all of 2025, and Trump doesn't want anybody in the government talking about the bird flu. I don't play no D chess. Can anybody explain this logic to me?

At minimum I hope the resistance is mass producing Trump "I did this!" decals to put on egg price displays and probably a lot more consumer items to come.

My personal take is, and always has been, no sitting president is going to change the outcome of something like this. They can do stupid shit like force the CDC not to release case numbers but in the end they themselves don't really change much.

People saw the Hunger Games display that was the inauguration. Minimal talk of the working class and none of them represented on stage. They know who is calling the shots. People will see what Trump uses his bully pulpit for and just as importantly what he doesn't. I honestly believe the wealth class and Nazis he surrounds himself with are so high on a circle jerking ecstasy right now that they can't even be bothered thinking about the economic effects of their actions. They are 100% driven by creating an atmosphere of fear and menace in hopes that people won't unite and fight back. I think they have another thing coming. People are just recovering from the sucker punch that was his first week.

And the Democrats aren't doing much about it either. I don't care if they are the minority in power. So was the Tea Party.

Jon Stewart did a recent interview with AOC and she said one of the major issues for Democrats is they are predictable. Republicans know exactly how they will respond and are well prepared for it.
